For those interested in coins from The Netherlands Antilles: As one may or may not know, the netherlands Antilles do not exist anymore (dissolved itself on 10 10 2010), but the remaining islands that have not joined the netherlands and have become autonomous countries with the Kingdom of The Netherlands, Curacao and St. Martin, have no new currency of their own yet. The Netherlands Antilles Guilder is still their currency. Peculiarly, circulation coins have now been released by the Royal Dutch Mint for these Islands that bear the year 2011. They are very rare. As the Islands will be having a new currency there was no need to mint on a large scale. The coins were only issued in 2000 sets with all circulation coins in them. Quite strange. As these coins (as far as I know) seem to be legal tender in the two countries but bear the name of an non-existing country! Seems to be listed on the Royal Dutch Mint web shop: http://www.knm.nl/Cura-ao-en-Sint-Maarten-BU-Set-2011/nl/product/1894/ They too state these may the final Netherlands Antilles coins. However, it seems only to limited to Europeans, as far as site registration is concerned. Obviously, I suspect it's not the only way to get it as otherwise one could travel to Curacao or St. Maarten and pick it up - not the most viable option. Thanks for sharing this information all the same.
Ordering it from a dealer in North America would be another option. Here is that set http://rsmint.com/2011netherlandsantillesbucoinset.aspx for example. That company is in Utah, US. They may ship to Canada, or maybe you can find a dealer near you ... Christian
