I received this coin as a gift a little while back. Is there any reason to doubt its authenticity? I have checked many similar in CoinArchives but saw none with this exact obverse legend and spacing. Thanks for your help, Eduard
closest I could fins is RIC 352vNero Dupondius. IMP NERO CAESAR AVG GERM, laureate head left / S-C, Victory flying left.
other than that, closest I could fins was a copper As Obv: IMP NERO CAESAR AVG GERM Laureate head right. Rev: S - C Victory flying left holding shield inscribed: SPQR. RIC 351, BMC 246, Van Meter 32.
Thank you very much Randy. The obverse legend is exactly as you describe for the As: IMP NERO CAESAR AVG GERM (I made a mistake, this is not a Dupondius, it is an As. I overlooked the sellers ticket). Maybe i am being overzealous, but since i did not buy this myself, i tend to be distrustful, and i was looking at the cut of the letters (one of the A's does not have a bar, the others do). I would hate for the person who gave this as a gift to have wasted his money. Thanks again! Eduard
Here's where it helps to actually have the references. This is a common type with loads of varieties - you won't see all of them online. RIC I 351, Rome mint, 66 AD. obv legend IMP NERO CAESAR AVG GERM
