Why’s that? Interesting cameo effect. Just stabilize it best you can.

What is that black "Gunk" on there? I see that from time to time on IHC's. Was it buried? Some environmental damage?

Yeah Kevin, I really didn't think about giving it a complete cleaning, I know better than that....But I really would like to get the black stuff off of there before I put it in a clear plastic snap with a foam liner.

Thanks potty dollar, I was really wanting to get the black stuff off of it, but don't want to damage the coin by doing that, so I am in a " stand still " now....Which means, I am doing exactly what you suggested...:smug:

Thanks Pickin and Grinin...potty dollar told me pretty much the same as you did, and I mentioned to him that I am in a " stand still " mode right now so yeah, I am leaving it alone...And the coin knows that too cause every time I look at it, it smiles at me, cause it knows I ain't messing with it...Amazing how a coin would know that!:shame:

SensibleSal66 I don't know what that black gunk is..???...I got that from a friend of mine and the coin was in an a small envelope.....I did want to clean it off, but like I did mentioned to all the other guys, I am not sure about cleaning that so I am in a " stand still " mode now, so thinking I'll leave it alone

I think the normally accepted consensus is that copper is best cleaned with xylene which should cause no discoloration, and is probably better at removing more "junk" than acetone.

Thanks for that information, I think I have used that before, but have totally forgot about it...???....I am starting to realize that O of the A ( old age ) is much tougher than you think it is...And you do not know that...Until you meet it Face to Face
