Greetings! As my first post on here will soon show, I'm VERY new to the hobby of coin collecting. I'm in the process of working on a complete set of Lincoln Pennies and have just finished putting the Presidential $1 set complete through 2008 ( I know, they've only been around 2 years).

I'm wanting to go ahead and put together a complete set of Sacagawea $1 coins, but I'm needing help with knowing exactly what coins have been minted so far. Here is what I know (or think I know!):

They were first minted in 2000 from all three mints, so there are technically three versions- P,D, and S. Am I right in assuming that the P and D versions would be identical if I were to purchase them through the US Mint set from each of the years rather than from rolls from a local coin store? Uncirculated is uncirculated right? I know in 2005 they began minting the US Mint sets in a satin finish, so technically from 2005 to present there would be 5 versions- P, P satin, D, D satin, and s?

I did notice in the 2009 Guide Book of US Coins by R.S. Yeoman, it has an asterik by 2007 and 2008 P and D stating that those coins were not issued for circulation, but I'm pretty sure I've seen those coins on Ebay that are uncirculated but not satin from the mint sets? So technically there would still be the 5 versions in 2007 and 2008?

And lastly- I have discovered there was a 2000 Millenium set produced by the US Mint that includes the Sacagawea coin in a "proof like" state. Are there any other years since 2000 the US Mint did this?

My intent was not to overwhelm anyone, lol, I just figure if you're gonna do something you might as well be all in!

Any feedback would be so greatly appreciated, either here or through my contact info! I look forward to hearing what everyone else has to say!

Just wanted to say welcome to the forum. One of the things I do is check the PCGS registry set to see what they include - http://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/SetComposition.aspx?c=2045. Not sure if this link will work. Then I exclude the ones I don't want. :) Technically the Cheerios coins is part of the complete set - but if I collected them(which I don't) I would exclude that one.

I think the 2001-S proof isn't as expensive as it used to be. I was able to get one for a reasonable price for Thalia Elizabeth's Dansco book.

Which reminds me, I need to get that extra page!

At our coin club meeting last night, a couple of people had the 2009's with the Native American reverse. Nothing earth-shattering there but it's the first one I saw in person. (The Gobrecht Dollar that someone else had for "show and tell" upstaged the '09 though!)
