Hi guys I have these two coins that I need more information on. I acquired these pieces when I was back in high school, and didn't care about cataloging a collection. And now I do :p

    These are the pieces.

    A Spanish 10 centimos dated 1870

The Spanish coin has a total mintage of ~170m; you may have noticed the "OM" which refers to the private mint Oeschger Mesdach & Cía. (in Barcelona, I think). That is from a Spanish catalog; don't have a KM at hand.

The Italian piece was apparently minted in Berlin, see

    The Spanish coin is KM#663, copper, mintage 170,088,000, $2 F, $10 VF in the 2002 3rd Ed.

The correct ID for the Italian coin is KM#28.1, cu-ni, Berlin mint ("KB"), mintage 75,000,000, 40¢ F, $1 VF.

Thanks for the info guys , I'm going to have to change the information :D

  6. I've not seen the Spanish 10 centimo coin before, I have a 1 centimo from 1870- worn much more heavily then yours above, and the design is almost the same. Interesting.

Those Spanish coins, issued by the Provisional Government, came in two types: The seated Hispania was used for all the lower denominations - 1 centimo, 2c, 5c, 10c. The others were silver pieces featuring Hispania lying or leaning back - 20 and 50 centimos; 1, 2 and 5 pesetas. Also, the copper coins do not have a country name while the silver pieces either say "Gobierno Provisional" or "España".

Ha, that third one is from a place I know! That is where I get off the autobahn every time I go to ... errm, well. :) And while I'm not a monarchist, you gotta like a king who has the motto "The love of the people is my reward" ...

Sure - that, and what I wrote in my e-mail (about the other coins you have in your contest) :) . My only dilemma is, if I post that here, others would have the opportunity to correct me or post additional info ... but they would also know what I wrote, and thus reduce my chance to win, hehe.
