    The date on the coin in the OP is not the same as in the link. tdec's 40 para is from about 1860 AD.

    Huh?

    Neither one has the double-dip top of an Arabic "3" in the second character of the date, so what are you seeing that I am missing?

    acanthite is right: the date on tdec1000's coin is AH1276 (1860AD), being the 22th reign year of Abdul Mejid who started his reign in AH1255 (hence the date 1255 on the reverse). In Krause: AH1255 year 22.

    The date on the coin on worldcoingallery is AH1255/20 or 1858AD (and not 1839 as mentioned, as this is the date Abdul Mejid was enthronized)
