For what I can find there were several die (marriage?) varieties for the 1939 Jefferson Nickels.
I've decided to list my complete BU date/mm set (1938 thru 1985).
I would like to ID the 1939 varieties.
Pictures would be preferable but a description is better than nothing.
Here's what I've think covers the options:

    1939 Reverse of 1940
    1939-D Reverse of 1938
    1939-D Reverse of 1940
    1939-S Reverse of 1940

    1939 Doubled Monticello (wishful thinking)

Plus let me know if there are others I should be aware of.
    I know about the 1943 P, 3/2.

The 1939 reverses are not considered varieties per se, as they are design changes so I don't think you will find them in a reference for varieties. You really only need one example from reverse of 38 and one reverse of 40 to differentiate, for example.

You will also need the actual varieties for 1939:

As for a reference webpage for Jefferson Nickel varieties, I simply use the NGC Variety Plus for Jefferson Nickels page.

I am planning to create a series of posts on Cointalk that highlight the different major Jefferson Nickel varieties sometime in the near future.
