Sorry if this is a bit out of place, but I could'nt figure out how to start a new thread. In any case, I have a 1797 1/2¢ Plain Edge (Cohen 2; R.4) in a NCS slab in VF details (corrosion). Redbook pricing for a clean coin is G:$475, VG:$625, F:$1,250 and VF:$2,400. My intent is to use it as partial payment so that I can get a lower grade (VG) 1793 1/2¢ I apologize for the poor resolution of the images (which I hope are attached-this is my first time attaching anything ), but this is the best my cheap camera can do. Anyway, what does the forum feel what is a reasonable value I could expect for this coin when I use it in trade for another half cent?
Really tough to say - my best guess is between $200 and $300. The details do not see to be real strong on this coin. It also looks like one that sold on heritage for $345. It would really depend on the dealer - I am just taking a swag. Probably be better to wait for someone who knows more about these than me.
