Hi all - I bought a gold memebership to PCGS and it includes having 4 coins graded. You have to submit all four at once. I've never had a coin graded before. So I picked a bunch of coins from my collection and here are the 5 remaining: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ta0hyxmhm89zm0i/5kGzT9bKzg I also have unopened proof sets from 68 up through the 80's. Some of those coins have toned very nicely. I suppose there is a chance that one of the proofs there is of particularly high grade but I can't say I know anything about the art of distinguishing a 65 from a 69 or anything in between. Anyone have any advice? Any of these fives easy choices either way? Should I be pouring over my mint proof sets? Thanks! Best regards, Richard
Your Morgan Dollar and your three IHC's are what I would send in from your selection. Sending in modern coinage would be a waste of your free submission tickets. By modern coinage I mean coins after 1955. PCGS charges substantially less for coins after 1955. I think as of 2013 it will be $16 per coin for any coin after 1955 but for coins before 1955 they will charge you $32 per coin. You can make the most of your money by sending in the four coins mentioned earlier with your free submission tickets and then sending in the other three later for a substantially lower price. That's just my opinion though, good luck with whatever you choose to do, Happy New Year, theSharpGun
