I was going through some change and found this coin. I went online and found some that were close but am still not quite sure as to what type of error it is. Also if there is any value in them.. Any help would be great .. Thanks rick
I thought that to but i have looked into it a bit and people are saying it may be a sintered planchet not properly annealed of also could be a copper metal clading error coin.. Not sure if this is the case but might just be..
Environmental damage I'd say as well. I get these types in my change all the time, I put them right back out into circulation, where they belong.
I have a 1982p that looks like that but clad on the head is off. I was told mine doesn't have value. I keep it cause I would hate more damage to the poor guy...
I was seeing some coins online with clading error and or sintered planchet errors and they were selling in the range of 5$ up to 250$ online and graded..
But that is not what you have. As others have noted, your coin is not an error; it is damaged and is worth 10 cents.
