This may have been asked before, but I missed it if it was. I am a little confused with the 2007 proof sets. The proof presidential set sells for $14.95 and the 2007 US MINT Proof set sells for $26.95....and you get the same proof presidential coins as the $14.95 set.....so actually the proof coins are just costing and extra $12.00 Did I get it right? IF so I see no value in buying the individual prez proofs for $14.95. And in the 2007 silver proof sets, with the prez coins also be the same as whats in the above? I see no value in paying $14.95 for the individ sets unless they are different in some way. Thanks in advance for any information about this.
the mint annual proof set is comprised of all circulating coins, hence why it includes the pres. $1 coins. the annual silver proof set will also include the new coins, but the pres. $1 coins will not be made in silver (if you closely read the Pres. $1 legislation, it does not allow the mint to make these in silver). like the 50 quarters proof sets, the mint made Pres. $1 proof sets which are sold separately from their annual proof product. basically, the mint is giving you a choice: buy them separately, or as part of the proof set.
There is value in it to me since all I want are the Presidents. I can just buy that set and save $12 by not having to buy the rest of the coins I don't want. By the way, at our local coin club auction last night President proof sets were going for $12, and full 2007 proof sets for $24. NGC slabbed bronze First Spouse medals were in the $8 to $11 range.
