I've got some foreign coins I found awhile back and had trouble trying to get decent info on them so I decided to join the forum and see if some collectors could help. There's a couple Canadian ones I think are probably just old normal ones but I put em in anyway. And for all I know the rest could be worthless but I would rather be safe than sorry later. Thanks for any help you guys can give...
The good news is all of the coins you have shown are recognizable. However, we will need to see the other sides of most to give you more accurate information. (Need to see dates.) So far I see some silver, so that's good! Photo #2 clockwise starting at top: Panama 1/4 Balboa (probably 90% silver, .1794 oz, depending on date) Canada 25 Cents (maybe silver, depending on date) Canada 10 Cents (silver) Great Britain probably Sixpence (silver) Canada 1944 10 Cents (80% silver, .06 oz ASW)
Thanks for the welcome and info. I don't know why I didn't do the other sides, I even said to myself not to forget em. I'll take some pics of the backs once I get back home tonight. Those are part of what got me into coins and wanting to start collecting
The presumably dateless Canada dime at the top right is either 80% or 92.5%. Six pence is 50%. Panama 1/4 Balboa (and 1930 was the first year of that design) is 90%, and also the best coin shown. Canada quarter is 1969, if I'm reading the date correctly, and is not silver. The 50 Franc piece and the British penny are just 'stuff', IMHO.
I wonder why they put it in that location. I googled to see some others and saw some with it up higher where it looked like it would lay better for wearing. I guess now I need to get some protectors for them. They definitely don't have enough silver to sell as scrap but they look cool so I can't see a reason to sell em.
