I have a friend who wants to purchase a set of ASE uncirculated 86 to date. His granddaughter is graduating from high school and is interested in these coins and feels this is as good a thing as any on which to spend his money on his only granddaughter.

Since there are absolutely no coin dealers with a 50 mile radius of our area and as I am totally clueless on these coins, a couple of questions:
    1) What is a' fair' price for the full to date set.
    2) Some recommended sellers who sell what they advertise.

I don't personally know any dealers off hand that stock these sets.

Does he want the uncirculated set? Proofs only? Or both? Does he want certified? Or perhaps raw in an album? Or just loose coins in capsules?

Whatever set he is shopping for, Ebay is a reasonable source to comparison shop for silver eagle sets. Unfortunately, the only form of payment accepted on Ebay any more is their online payment service Paypal, so there are a few hoops to jump through to buy at that venue.

Your friend can do his own shopping in term of price and availability. If he needs it now, he can buy-it-now, or shop at the auctions and perhaps get a better price. If he wants to buy it now, it may be worthwhile to sign up for the Bing promotion to get the 8% rebate.

/edit to add: a quick Ebay search shows two full sets in Dansco albums for immediate sale buy-it-now, one at $689, the second at $629. Recent auction sales are around $560 for Dansco sets with 24 coins (2006 to 2010). Prices will fluctuate with the price of silver because there are 24 ounces of silver in the set. If a person signs up for the Bing rebate program, $629 buy-it-now, less the 8% rebate is about the same as the $560 being realized at auction.
