Hey forum. Been back into collecting/stacking again for the passed few months. I’ve never gotten a whole box of coins from a bank before. I usually spend about 20$ and get 8rolls of nickels&8 rolls of pennies. That is if I even go to the bank. I smoke ciggarettes so all the local stores know my face and refer to me as the coin guy. This is because I generally spend about a week accumulating coin rolls from various stores as change for my purchases. I mark each roll from where I got it and save it with the others until I have some good time hunt. Anyway, my question is : Should I speak to a manager at the bank and inform him/her as to why I want the boxes or should I just ask for them? I haven’t nor plan to get the half dollar rolls, which I imagine is a red flag at banks by now. I don’t want a business account , I mostly want dimes, nickels, and pennies. What do you think?
I don't think it is necessary to speak to the manager. In most banks, the responsibility for ordering boxes/rolls falls to one of the tellers. By the way, if you quit smoking, you will be able to acquire a lot more rolls. I quit smoking (cold turkey) after 55 years, and for the greatest part of those years, I smoked a carton a week. Do the math! Chris
I know. It’s a decision I’ve been faltering to make. I want to quit , not only for the $ , but health wise too. I’m 28 and have been smoking cigarettes (about a carton a week or more) for about 5 years. I get winded when I walk up the hill I live in. On the bright side, for $2 worth of pennies earlier for my change, pulled two wheaties and some shiny coppers. I’ve been thinking about redo-ing my Lincoln memorial book with shinier coins. But then again might as well just start a new book and leave the full one brown and complete. Lol
