Hi everybody. I was going to purchase a raw 2001 sacagawea proof coin at my local coin dealear. He has it priced for 89.99, but he said he would lowere it because it was overpriced. What do you think i should take for it? My limit is 80$ just so you know.

A quick search of completed ebay auctions shows 66.00-75.00 (plus shipping).

But then I see pcgs and ngc graded pr69dc at that same range (75-85)

Uhhh, retail value on the 2001 Saccy is 37.50, and I wouldn't be supprised if you can find it for around 20.00

Grey Sheet bid for a 2001S Sacagawea is now $73 to $75 as my wife sold one just last week. I would take all the 2001S Sackies I could get for $20 as that will NEVER happen again as this set has exploded over the last year. If you can get the coin for $75 you will be in the ballpark at this time and I do RECOMMEND buying RIGHT NOW as it has not topped out. Great set to collect as all the proofs are climbing in value. And, not real sure just how long this coin could be around as there is a huge movement to replace Sacagawea at this time. Buy the proofs NOW!

Dunno where you're getting those numbers Penny but ya better look again. The '01 Proof Sacky has been on a race to the moon for some time now. $75 is about average.

I will be quite honest when I say the Sacagawea dollar has been a very pleasant and unexpected surprise! While I for one like the coin and would use it if I could get it I was not prepared for full sets to hold the value they are currently seeing. Quite honestly I don't think these price increases are over as apparently a lot of collectors simply passed on the opportunity to collect them. Do wish I had started more than the two sets I have at this time!

Thanks everyone for the advice. I managed to snag it for 70$. He had two, but the other one had a scratch on the back so I got the other one. It was a good deal I think, but he probably got them for 15$ since he buys proof sets in bulk. Ill try to post pictures today mabey tommorow.

I bought a couple proof Sackies and put them in airtite holders. I think I only paid about $20 each, but that was a couple years ago.

    :)
