I'm working on a small-size $1 currency sets. Right now I'm mostly after CU FRN's (1963-2009). For each series I'm after one bill from each Federal Reserve (A-L) AND each Block within each Federal Reserve. For example for the Series of 1969 the New York (B) Federal Reserve has three Blocks: B...A, B...B and B...C. Then there's printing location (DC and FW), Web Notes, Mules and other "varieties". The only thing I'm not interested in is Star Notes. This means that the dealers will have to have a big inventory AND easy access to other inventories (dealer-to-dealer). Please recommend dealers that you believe will be able to easily help me.
From personal experience follow link below; have known Bob Azpiazu for more than 30 years and he is a standup, straight shooter. Notes I've purchased from the firm are top notch with NEVER any problems. Just MHO http://www.fstctycurr.com/
Otherwise, there are lots and lots of small size currency dealers with upstanding reputations and quality merchandise. Meant no disrespect to them (as I have purchased from others also). Shop around and compare. Apologize for second post but hit the post reply accidentally.
I'm somewhat familiar with Bob Azpiazu. He basically wrote the book on FRN's. His book is what I use to determine what my collection will consist of.
Robert Azpiazu at First City Currency is a great guy and an honest dealer. I would also mention James (Jim) Hatch at http://www.frn-ones.com/, and last I would recommend Lawrence (Hollis) ONeal . Hollis does not have a website, but will fill "want" lists. You can email him at holliso1234@aol.com. Please tell them that Steve in Tampa sent you.
That's kinda what I'm trying to do. A set of all 226 FRB/block letter combos that have been printed. To spice up the whole collection, the bills are 2003A or older.
I've bought notes from Jim as late as last year. I talk to him on the phone often and see him at all of the Florida currency shows. He usually shares a table with Bob Azpiazu.
Thanks for this it will help me in defining sources for my search and direction in which way to go. I can see this may be costly venture. BTM
BTM, sent you PM; actually it's a New Conversation, check the 'Inbox' at top of the main menu of the page.
Scott Lindquist, http://scottlindquist.com/frn-2/uncertified-1-2/ I would check him out at a show, his knowledge and enthusiasm for notes is catching.
