Hey folks. Please look at the attached and provide your comments. Does it look authentic? I'm watching an auction and this came up. I have purchased from this auction many times in the past. But this leaves me scratching my head. Thanks
I would only buy those if they were slabbed. For a time they were coming in from China without the "COPY" stamp they have nowadays.
Ik... you're the second person to notice that! I'm wondering how long it'll take for 5 ppl to call me out... you're #2
I think this is one of those coins - 1955 DD - where the financial UPSIDE is far greater sending the $$ to certify it, than the cost of selling it raw and pushing that certification to someone else. So finding one "raw" brings great suspicion as it is worth far more certified. So someone selling it raw wouldn't know what they were selling .. thus selling it as a "1955 DD" would be counterintuitive in thinking as just looking it up shows a great return on value.
how much did it go for?? I have seen like 5 or 6 auctioned off in the last 3 months or so, all were raw but one, i wouldn't buy online unless it was already slabbed by one of the top three, PCGS, NGC, ANAC'S
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think China ever used the word "COPY". I thought they used the word "REPLICA".
They didn't even need to stamp copy on there... It's so fake that even non-coin collectors (muggles) could tell
