Hello. I recently purchased this Roman Coin. The only information I have is based upon the writing on it's temporary case. It says "Ancient Roman Bronze Coin w/ the Head of Caesar." I really want to know what year it is from and maybe a link to a photo of one of these coins in good condition so I can see what it really looks like. Thanks.
Looks like it might be a coin of Valens (364-367 AD), but my eyes aren't as good on these (pics are kinda fuzzy, coin pretty corroded to read the legends) as some of the other guys around here. I really can't make much of the reverse, but possibly one of these... http://www.vcoins.com/ancient/ancientimports/store/viewItem.asp?idProduct=3818&large=0 http://www.vcoins.com/ancient/romanumismatics/store/viewItem.asp?idProduct=4125&large=0
I was about to say Valentinian. Same era, though. Mid- to late 4th century. The coin is probably not worth much, I'm afraid
I agree, Valentinian. The reverse is of the SECVRITAS REI PVBLICA type, showing a winged Victory walking r. The mintmark would be below the Victory, but its worn off. Without that, there's really little else we could tell you. Unfortunately, 9.95 is an astronomically high price. But hey, you still have a 1700 year old coin!
