Is there any websites that specializes in National bank notes? Either in selling notes or just providing information with pictures. I am wanting to collect notes from local banks (Southern Indiana / Northern Kentucky area). If there isn't any good sites, what about book recommendations?

There are several reference books which list them. Usually by state, and then alphabetically by city and then numerically by charter number. They will even break that down by denomination and then rarity. The reference books are a little behind on true values. The time between editions varies. You would still need some recent auction prices to get up to date information. These reference books take time to put together and therefor are somewhat expensive. Then again, expensive is a relative term. Just check the currency supply stores or publishers and your bound to find what you need. Another option would be to buy one used. (eBay?) I know of no site which will give you complete information compared to the book source.

Don C. Kelly wrote the book on Nationals. The book and quite a few Nationals (and other currency) are available for sale on his website, www.donckelly.com.
