Let me know if its neccessary to see the other side of any of these coins. I'll really appreciate any help figuring out what these are. I recently got a bucket of foreign coins for free, and these are some of the ones I can't identify. Sorry the pictures are small.
The coins you have are: KM 133 20 Drachmes Greece KM 119 10 Drachmia Greece KM 116 1 Drachma Greece 50 Yen Japan KM 117 2 Drachmes Greece Maybe someone else can help you with the values my World Coins catalog is outdated. Lou
The coin on the second post is a 2 Dracmes. The dates are on the Greek coins, just look on both sides of the 20.
Your second post is a 1976 Greek 2 drachmes made of nickel-brass with the reverse showing Georgios Karaiskakis. Value...25 cents in XF condition.
LSM wins in a photo finish! as he said, the dates are right on the coin, the first two pics are 1982 value 30-50 cents, the third one with the atom thingie is 1980 value 25-50 cents and the ship one is 1984 value 15 cents. The Japanese 50 yen is somewhere between 1967-2001,maybe Roy,our resident Japanese expert can tell you the exact year but he might need to see the other side...value 75 cents to $1.
Actually 1967 to the present. Y#81 is dated Showa 42-64 (1967-89), Y#101.1 is dated Heisei Gan ("First" - 1989), and Y#101.2 is dated Heisei 2-18 (1990-2006). The only differences are the era name - Showa being Hirohito's reign and Heisei being the current reign of Akihito. Krause considers the first year of issue in an era as a separate type because the year is expressed as the word "first", rather than the number "one". The denomination is on both sides - in Japanese characters at the bottom of the obverse as shown, and in western numbers on the reverse, which also has the date with the year in western numbers between the characters for the era and the word "year". The value is less than 50¢. Catalog prices start at 75¢ in XF.
