Hello, I am needing some help with a box full of old comics I came across, lots of oldies in there with stand prices of 10 and 12 cents like spiderman #40 the end of the green goblin, etc(thats just the first one to come to hand) they are all in plastic sleeves and in (I think) really good shape,I think they were someones collection, once. Now I'm a coin guy and don't know crap about comic books, honestly, and just plan to move these out on Ebay.
Any help would be great,it looks like hardly anyone uses the auction on ebay most are buy it now/best offer, why?
I've got less than 1.00 each in these comics,so any helpful advise is appreciated. I'm not trying to sell them here, just think someone here could help me with what kind of gains or losses I should expect on ebay.

Depending on what the set consists of other then spiderman #40, you could have about a hundred or so dollars worth. Now if spiderman #1 is in it or something then your looking at a few thousand for it alone.

I collect comics so if you can take pics or list the comics you have I can help you further.

Or take time and go through each and do a completed auction on ebay. Theyre might be some hidden gems in there.

Bronze Age, Silver Age, Modern Age and all terms for comics that were made in various years.

For help look at Wiki with "Golden Age".

Scroll near the bottom for the other "ages" to get a better idea for years and whatnot.

Since you are in them so cheaply, it sounds like an ideal basis for 99¢ start auctions. The really good ones will undoubtedly bring surprising prices, just as occurs with coins.

Coins have overtons for the capped bust halves, comic books have Overstreet for the price guide, just like in coins, read the book first. Like the red book the prices are not current, from what I have found the market for funny books is really down, it may beto your advantage to hold them until we come out of this recession.

Okay guys and gals, here's what I have, all are in plastic sleeves,in three different varieties of comic book. I went to a comic book collecting site and was refered to a comic book grading service (costly) but going by their grading fiqures most of these are mid-range grades, these were from a collectors relative, the collector passed away,I went to look at his coins but they already sold them all, turns out there were less in the box than I thought,so my present cost is about $2.20 each, lets hope I didn't get screwed, they'll most likely be on Ebay soon.
