I picked up this coin today and it was in a flip with the following:
    Germany ca.1520
    Constanz Civic Coinage
    Silver Batzen=4 kreuzer=16 pfennig
Can any of you shed a bit more light on this coin?
I did a bit of searching but didn't find it :computer:
    THANKS

Took me a while to read the legends but they are pretty clear. I struggled with the last letter of CONSTA(N) . That's a VERY nice coin you have. You'll find it referenced on Jim Robert's site here:

scroll down to reference 741 for your coin (?).

Was Constanz a German State or a ruler, and where was it,or...who was he/she?

    Your'e very welcome.

Constance (Konstanz) is a city on Lake Constance (German - Swiss border). At the time of your coin it would have been part of the Bishopric of Constance (Baden, Wurtemberg, and a number of the Swiss cantons).

Other than that, i've got a couple of talers somewhere... but little or no more knowledge I can impart on the subject.
