just picked up this 1882 S Morgan. i haven't bought any in a while. mostly been focusing on the currency collection. this beauty just called out to me. i was curious at what everyone thought on a grade. i think i did pretty well price wise. the pictures are from the auction. i do not have the coin in hand as yet. thanks in advance. :thumb:

If it wasn't for that hit in front of the ear I'd say it had a shot at 66PL. But since it does have it, it might be limited to 64. That's a pretty big hit.

It looks polished to me. Post up a pic when you get it ! Good luck !

I don't think so, I think it's just the pics. The coin is highly reflective as can be seen in the last pic - that's the guys skin you see reflected in the coin.

A polished coin would not do that.

i dont believe it is polished. i have some coins that are and they look nothing like this morgan. it looks more like PL as GD eluded to. i will post my pics as soon as i receive the coin

I think it'll go MS-66 and maybe PL also. The fields and face are so clean that the hit in front of the ear does not bother me.

having it in hand will make a big difference. lets see if its still quite as nice

It is a GD suggested, a fairly good hit.
