Hi all, I was looking closely at some of my proof sets and noticed a couple of interesting things about my 1956 proof set Franklin. First of all, it has the scarcer type 1 reverse. As I was examining it, I noticed doubling in the lettering around the perimeter, especially in UNITED STATES of AMERICA. I checked out my Cherrypickers guide, and the 2 listed DDR's do not fit what I have ( I would think that it would mention the type 1 reverse as a diagnostic). In some ways it almost looks like machine doubling, but I do not know if that appears on proof coinage. Is there a source for identifying varieties for larger coins like there is for Cents? I will try to post a couple of pictures when I get them taken. Thanks, George
The 2nd picture didn't come up right. I will try to put a better picture here. Sorry about that :computer:
