The first one has a personalized note on it that seems to say, "Best wishes from John and Jean, Mayor and Mayoress, Lewisham London." Any assistance with information and value is much appreciated!
From Google, Lewisham had it's first mayor in 1965. Two mayors have been named John for sure.... John Henry in 1982, and John O'Shea in 1992. There could have been other Johns.... possibly J. D. Day, 1967, and J.T.Bailey, 1979, if their first initial actually was for John, as well as if it referred to someone as John by his middle name, there were N.J.W.Taylor, 1989 and R.J.Lowe, 1972. The Mayoress was either a female Mayor or the wife of a Mayor. Since this is signed as Mayor and Mayoress I would say Mayoress in this case refers to the Mayors' wife. Now all you have to do is find out which John signed it.
The Spanish 100 Pesetas is very common and offhand I'd say that the inscription was from one couple to another when they met on a Spanish holiday on the Costa Brava. Lewisham is a rather run down London borough, south of the river, not a great place to be mayor of, but no doubt impressive enough for Henry and Madge from Basingstoke. Since they mention London, and the note is in America, the fellow tourists were probably Buck and Hetty from Tulsa. None of the notes are of any value to mention, the Canadian dollar does not appear to the 'Devil's head' variety.
