1972 Double Die Obverse 1c, PCGS MS66RD, old green label slab. Coin is a nice strike with lots of red as you would expect for a MS66 certified cent. I have a MS64 Red and am looking to upgrade. I am seeing prices all over the map (Ecoins.com to PCGS Price). Many of the sheets stop at MS65. I am just trying to find a good range within $50 + or - to see if it is worth it to make the jump. Thanks...
Only guessing here - but if you're asking about the one currently being offered by Heritage - I would expect it to go for around $1100. Personally I think this is overpriced. I mean good lord - there are 500 or more of these coins graded 66 or better. It's only my opinion but I rather think that coin is being bid up because of the holder. Bidders are hoping that it will upgrade because of the old holder.
Thanks for the heads up...I looked at Heritage too and couldn't put a "real" handle on it. There had a bunch of ranges plus you have to add their FEE on top of it. Bottom line is that I just picked one up for $790 (out the door) and I am pretty happy with it. My brother wants to buy the MS64 I have. I think $790 is a good deal. Lord knows I have paid too much for coins (that "got to have it" mind set), but I also find deals every now and then. I wasn't too comfortable with the current market prices for this one, but I wanted a MS66 grade because I real believe these will (hopefully) take off like the 1955 DDO. Thanks again!
