    Hi All,

I need help in identifying this Ethiopian gold coin.
The design is of Menelik II similar to that of 1 1/2 Werk
    However it much bigger 44.4
and does not show in on-line catalog that I could access.
It was purchased 60 yeras ago.

Are you saying the size is 44.4mm? But it looks like KM# 5(I think 42mm) but, that would mean it is silver. It could be gold plated?

The coin is about 40mm in diameter and weight 44.4 gr.
The design is same as KM5 but the weight does not agree.
The catalog says 0.7537oz which is about 23.4g.
I guess that would also rule out gold plating.

Note that the head-side upper half has reddish/copper discoloring
does that give you any clues ??
