Medals produced in an English-speaking country, as indicated by "Italy," not Italia, etc.

They are actually silver washed souvenirs sold in the Vatican in the late 20th century and possibly still are today. They are base metal. Solid silver versions have a hallmark indicating silver purity, which yours do not.
They say "Italy" in English because they were meant to be sold mainly to foreigners, not other Italians.

One of the medals is dated 1978 which is when John Paul II became the R.C. Pope. Also note that, while two of the pieces depict the Częstochowa Madonna, the "O.L." seems to be English, not Latin or Polish ...

For whatever reason, my shop gets tons of these medals. We usually price them at $2.
