Anyone care to try to identify this one, I'd appreciate it. I don't even know if I have the reverse right-side-up.
This is a coin from Iraq: 4 fils KM#105 in nickel (magnetic) or KM#105a in copper-nickel (non-magnetic). Your coin bears year 1938 and the effigy of king ghazi I (king of Iraq 1933-1939). bart
Wow, thanks Bart. Great detail. This one always had me stumped. Now I just have to find my magnet, and I'm all set.
Eddiespin, coins from Middle Eastern cointries usuall have 2 dates on them.It must be remembered that the Anno Hegirae (Hegira Year) calendar is a lunar calendar of 354 days.If you have a copy of the Krause catalogue, you will find a number identification chart near the front, and an AH to AD conversion chart in the back of Krause. There is an Islamic date converter that has been posted in another thread. You can search for it here. Aidan.
