Hello! A friend of mine found this coin while mowing their lawn. Does anyone know what type of coin this is? See attached file. Thank you all for your help. ~Matthew
Very interesting. It is difficult to make out in the small, one-sided picture, but it appears to be a (probable replica of) a Renaissance-era gold coin; Spanish or Italian, circa 1500s. Better, full-sized pictures of both sides would help.
Interesting coin, token, or replica. It looks like this coin: Ludovico Maria Sforza Duke 1494-1499 Doppio Ducato Gold More information and a picture: http://www.rhinocoins.com/ITALY/MILANO/LUMAS.HTML
I figured that HAD to be a replica. But it also must've been a real adrenaline rush for the person who found it like that!
