I want to get this coin slabbed and graded, but I don't know how to the coinshop in town doesn't send coins off to get graded?? Would it also be worth getting graded? Here is the pics I took, what do you think this mightgrade? Thanks, Noob.

I believe the coin would not come back problem-free. I see some new scratches on the reverse, the C in Cent and the wreath.

The color of the pictures worry me and the same for the pits on the face. Makes me think this coin is recolored. I want to say AU Details. All in all not a bad coin just a few things I have concerns about.

Hello, More info please... Where did you acquire the coin? What did you pay?
What grade opinion did the seller give. Do YOU think it is uncirculated?
    My opinion: AU 50

am i the only one who sees surface porosity? Look at the diamonds on the ribbon, the pitting on the face/feathers, and the area 'around' the discoloration on the wreath, and even the stem of the E in cent. ?

typo corrected - must have been watching the weather channel?

No - but really to hard to tell with these pictures. I think it is there from the looks of the surface, but hard to tell. One of the reasons I went with AU Details.

    " . . . the discoloration on the weather . . ."?? What does that mean?

    I believe he means wreath.

It almost looks like this coin has spent some time in olive oil, something a metal detectorist would do. Does soaking in olive oil count as damage and will it not grade?

I don't think that is porosity you are seeing. I think it is Deller's. That would give you unc details. Even if I am wrong about the Deller's, I doubt it would come back better than 63 due to the color and luster.

It does appear to be dipped in some oil. It also looks like some small nicks on the chin and cheek. It is a nice coin though. I'm thinking MS62.

i'd say au details. there's something with the ribbon and the hair just above it that bothers me.

I'll tell you what it looks like to me, the coin was probably cleaned in some way and to try to bring it back to a somewhat natural color. Someone placed the coin in mineral oil and sulfur. Looks like to much sulfur was used and the bright areas is where the coin has been rubbed or wiped. This is what I'm seeing from the present pics, the coin may be a total different color...

The color looks off to me as well. i would call it AU details, recolored.

The coin has a beautiful strike and looks to be uncirculated. It has what it takes to be MS60 i think. I go with 60 because of the color of the coin and the pits or nicks in the primary areas of the coin.
