have a 1922 peace dollar with what looks like a s or 2 located on back under the one. was wondering how do i determine the finish and wether it is high relief or low relief coin. and is there any value to this coin?
The 'S' on the reverse is a mintmark. Your coin was minted in San Francisco. It is highly unlikely you have a 1922-S High Relief. Good photos would help us help you.
pics maybe this will help. this was just a coin i found in my grandmothers attic and have no clue about it at all. and was wondering if it was of any value
Angie, That's a pretty cool find but the coin is not valuable. It is a common 1922-S Peace Dollar. From your photos the coin appears to be circulated but the photos are not detailed enough for me to estimate a grade. From what I can see your coin is probably worth $18 to $20 (depending on the spot price of silver).
Blue book says: VF20=$13 EF40=$14 That is as a coin... but without a better pic... it would be impossible to tell.
Blue book is worthless as it comes out once a year and that is almost a year old. Especially with silver moving almost double in the time that book came out.
Although the '22-S Peace is a common date, it's still worth a bit more than $20 unless damaged or worn slick.
