Coin: 1947 Mexico 5 pesos I need some help grading this coin. I'm thinking about sending it to NGC or PCGS to be graded. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
Nearly looks too nice to be real. I never find these with such scrupulously mark-free fields. I would send that in with the next submission.
Tom thanks for the response. A quick question for you. Not to veer away from the question asked in my original post but does the coin looked to have been cleaned?
The luster looks a bit muted, but I attributed that to the coin being in a plastic case and the less than superb images. I see no reason to expect that it has been cleaned. I also have no doubt that it might have been dipped, but cannot prove that from the images.
It almost looks like it was sand blasted or whizzed , as the hits are not shiny like they should be . This could be from the not so clear pics though . Does the luster cartwheel ?
Thanks rzage. I'm slowly learning the terminology associated with silver coin cleaning. What does "hits" refer to. I haven't heard the term before. The luster does cartwheel.
Hits are wherever the coin came in contact with another coin or something hard enough to leave a ding or hit . I guess the more correct term would be contact marks .
