Can anyone figure out the last number in the date? With your help I was able to find the coin listed on World Coin price guide after you told me what country it was from. Great Britain one penny and was only made three years so it has to be 1806, 1807 or 1808. I don't know how to determine the grade of a foreign coin at all but if 1807, VF20=$25.50 XF40= $165.00 but if it is an 1808 there is no price listed just say unique which should mean more dollars I would think. So all you foreign coin experts please help if you can. I soaked it in distilled water for two days and I think it's worse, I liked the coin all dark myself but really want to figure out the date. First picture is after soaking two days and second one was from before. In the darker picture it looks like the top half of an 8 but in the lighter one kind of looks like 7 ????
Could be a 6 or a 7, it looks like a 7 but it could be a 6 with corrosion nearby. I would describe the grade as G "Good" The 1808 was a "proof" strike and was unique meaning there was only one and it aint yours.
just my luck Uh! Oh well can still dream, LOL, Thanks everyone for all the info. it really helps, I am so glad I joined with coin talk. Thought I knew a lot about coins but seems I really know very little, but seems like someone on here always knows and is willing to share, thank you Dave, Jmon, spirityoda, and jpcienkus for looking and your opinions.
