Posted also in coin talk.. Anyway aquired a 1999-D state Quarter that is the same color as a SAC, from the edge it is a nickle copper clad but from the front and back the same color as a SAC with very very very light color of green mixed in.. the reeding is good but the edge is thicker and wider and not to uniform compared to a standard coin. The color is consistant and uniform and the scratches and bag marks show no wear through. the coin is circulated but still has some luster. Not good on the new stuff Need Some HELP Thanks.. (delaware)

Without seeing it - this is just a guess. But it sounds like you have a coin that has been treated with chemicals of some sort.

The edge reeding shows nickel, if the coin was treated it seems the whole coin would be the same color YA.

You could be right - but then if it was chemicals and the coin was treated while laying down - the chemicals might have just run off the edge and down the reeds instead to them long enough to change the color.

And if the coin was struck on an unclad planchet - you wouldn't see the nickel on the edge either.

Like I said - just a guess without seeing the coin

There are some possibilities that I can come up with.
    1. Treated as GDJMSP has stated
    2. Missing clad layer
    3. Altered coin
