1902 Swiss Shooting Medal, Zug Cantonal Shooting Festival. Richter-1678a. Martin-996, Krause-343. There was a nice Unc one on fee-bay for $200, but I missed it. Gorgeous looking medal IMO. If I find another one, is $200-ish a fair price? 1902 SWISS SHOOTING R-986a, AR, 45mm NEUCHATEL - FLEURI FEST. A local dealer has an NGC MS67 FS at $425. Beautiful design IMO. Is that a reasonable price? I'm totally new to Swiss Shooting Medals, not even familar with the Richter #'s. So any advice on how to get started, not pay too much, & what the NGC MS67 at the local dealer might be worth would be appreciated. TIA!
Probably the best person to answer your questions would be Zohar444 since he has a huge collection of shooting medals. If he doesn't chime in, why don't you send him a PM? Chris
As Chris says Zohar is the man Woody. I'm sure he would be glad to help you...and welcome to the forum. Bruce
Hi Woody, I am glad there is another shooting medal fan. The 1902 was actually mine (I have 2). A true MS-67 is very subjective in pricing, therefore the $425 may be reasonable. Given auction trends these seem to be picking up in price. Northeast Numismatics has many at a premium price, yet with very nice eye appeal. I tend to purchase raw and send to be graded. - my set is actually here - http://coins.www.collectors-society.com/WCM/CoinCustomSetView.aspx?s=1753 PM me if you have any specific question. Regards, Zohar
Thanks everybody. Zohar, yes, that dealer does have a lot of interesting shooting medals, but they do seem to be "premium priced" as you say. Then again, being new to it, I don't know the pricing, but from what research I've been able to do online, I've never seen one priced at $425. And I did see your collection in the other thread--wow. Can't imagine I'd get to that level, but I might PM you with a couple of questions, cheers, woody
