I have in the past bought different kinds of loupes but I have never been happy with them. Trying to save a buck in the wrong place so to speak. So i´m going to dive into more exspensive ones. The one I am currently looking at is this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130512419762&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT These are well made by a major company so I know the product is good. The only thing i´m worried about is the size 13mm Has anyone have experiance with these or do you have one that you can point out. I´m looking for no destortion and correct colour as well as no light reflection Siggi
Zeiss is definitely high end optics. They make rifle scopes worth 2-3k and up. Also high end binoculars. I bought one of these along time ago and I don't regret it: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-BelOMO-10x-...277?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f87e704d Seems more than sufficient for what I'm doing. The TPGs rarely even use a 5x. I got a nice lanyard with quick detach with mine for free. Some places offer that with it if you look around.
Thank you Vess, I will check that one out. I did not know about TPG´s using only 5X loupes. I´m going to look into that as well Siggi
I bought a triple set of them of amazon for 13.00 and they were in mint condition! Very happy so I put one on a lanyard! Bringing it to my coin meeting today!
Yeah I've read several times that they normally only grade by eye and will occasionally use a 5x. Which kind of makes sense. You have to draw the line for flaws somewhere. You could put a MS/PF70 under a high power microscope and find flaws if you wanted to. At some level of magnification, there's going to be flaws. Many of which get disregarded when it comes to grading.
Makes total sense Vess, I just bought the one you own "gona give it a try" if it does not work Zeiss is next
