I'm not going to hazard a guess with this one. Token? Medal? Play Money? Silver? Gold? Rare? $1000? $00.00? Scarce!? Any help will do just nicely.
This is the satirical jetton When king Wiliam IV died at 1837, Victoria became the British queen. Her uncle ( Ernst-August, duke of Cumberland) has been compelled to obey to the law and to refuse the rights to a throne in favor of the niece. Ernst-August left UK and became the king of Hannover. Ernst-August was very unpopular in UK and British people were glad that it has left to Germany. In honor of this event your satirical medal was produced. This tokens were used as a jettons in casino. The horsman - is duke of Cumberland (Ernst-August). This is the parody on the plot with St. George. This jetton has two names: "To Hanover counters" and "Cumberland Jacks".
Author of this jetton - Tomas Halliday from Birmingham. The dragon plays a role of a hunting dog of the duke. On the majority of counters the duke has been represented with a muzzle of a monkey instead of a human face. A jettons of that type were minted during 1837-1879. This jettons were on sale at the price one penny for pair.
the central hole is not supposed to be there, it has been done by persons unknown. these jettons regularly turn up in bargain boxes over here and can be obtained for around 10 to 20 pence,.........
I take it then that this is a "Token" at "$0.00" value and that it is rarely seen or otherwise Scarce outside of foreign junk bins. Awesome, I got my investment Back!
