I found out from my fellow members that having a picture helps alot. Maybe if you could put one in here, someone might know what it is.
Welcome aboard our new friend. That doesn't compute. The reign of Mussolini's puppet King Victor Emanual III ended with the defeat of the Axis Powers in World War II, and the proclamation of the Republic of Italy, so his bust would not have appeared on a 1959 lira. The 1943 stainless steel lira was the last to have his bust, and the aluminum 1959 lira had scales on the obverse and a large "1" on the reverse. There were a few lira issues with his bust facing left and a few with eagle reverses, but the only coin with that combination is KM#77/77a/77b, bearing Roman numeral dates XIV-XXI (1936-43) in nickle, non-magnetic stainless steel, and magnetic stainless steel. I second webcat5's motion. Please post a picture.
Your coin could either be one of four types. Firstly it is stainless steel and it could either be magnetic or not. secondly it could either be year XVII of Vittorio's reign or year XVIII. If you look to the right of the denomination below the eagles wing tip you will see the regnal year in roman numerals. Year XVII is more valuable than year XVIII for 1939 but even so, it is worth only about $15 - $20 in absolutely pristine condition and next to nothing if well circulated. Hope that helps.
