OK... So after reading about Bruce's recent find of the no FS on the 1990 D I had to to go and research my rolls of 1990 D's just to double check them all :) well in my examination, I found this one that is "neckless" Jefferson neck is gone! I assume from over zealous die polish, much like the famous 3 legged buff nickel!

Check out Jefferson's neck, almost all details are missing under his chin... This is a fairly common occurance in nickels from the 70's and I have collected 30 -40 of them from the 70's and a few scattered ones from the 60's and earlier, however this is the first one I've found from a modern nickel! Made my day!!

    Hi,

This is to all of you Jefferson hounds. I've really enjoyed learning a few things from you guys in just the past few days.

I really enjoy ALL U.S. coins but have felt the Jefferson series was way under rated for a long time. Yeah, I knew about the full steps (like everone else) but no FS and no neck? New to me.

I do have a roll of Black Beauties buried somewhere in my "I got it cheap" part of my collection. My local dealer was going to give them away as change so I plunked down $2 for the roll.
Found a few with awesome cobalt blue spotting. If I ever locate the darn things I'll post pics.

In the meantime I'll keep a better eye on my Jeffersons as well as what you guys are posting.

    I appreciate what you're doing.

So while cruising around I found another one on the internet... A 1983 this time.. I have a feeling that since this is a low area it is much like the buffalo nickel and the 2 feather varieties... A error that re-occurs in most years if you search long enough.. Pretty cool I think.

So apparently some of the Historians were not wrong when they stated that Jefferson did not have the neck for some of the tough decisions as a President!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:goofer:

O it sold for $19 plus shipping ... I guesss I really need to register as a seller and sell a couple of mine!! Holy Cow!!

That is not a lot in the big picture of life, but heck on a .05 cent that can be found in pocket change... NOT BAD AT ALL!
