I picked this guy up today. It's a cool piece from my hometown.

That's a pretty neat little advertising piece you have there! Do you know if it dates to 1912?

Is this worth more encased? Most encased cents have a ring around the rim when it's broken out, but this one looks like it might just fall right out!

Very nice and the condition is off the chart!

For a common date coin it can be. It all depends on the type of encasement, subject matter of the issuer, and condition of both the coin and what it is mounted in. Advertising encased cents like this were not made in very large quantities and their survival rate is usually fairly low especially in this condition.

It's nice to imagine getting a penny in change from a $10 bill after buying something for $9.99. The sales tax is so high where I live that I would almost have to chip in another buck.

I'm betting that Charmy would love that piece for her collection...

Unusual to find both an encasement and an advertising mirror in the same piece.

Nice finr and in great condition...both coin and mirror.
If you Google it, you get (for a fee) the advertisement in the Indianapolis newspaper of 1909 and 1913 for Hauger's.
