Anybody could help me to give me an neutral and several explanation about the NCS ( NUMISMATIC CONSERVATION SERVICE ) grade value because maybe you will laugh but it's the fist time that i see the NCS slab and except the design of the slab and the charactersthat i like , there are no grade value like an MS-..... so is it a special slab for just a conservation like the tittle said or... see you soon nicholas
After conservation, NCS will send a no-problem coin to its sister company NGC for slabbing with a grade. If NGC would bodybag it for any reason, then it will go into an NCS slab, without a grade. For example, no amount of "conservation" will restore the surface of a coin which has suffered extensive PVC damage, so after removing the PVC to prevent further damage, NCS would slab the coin in its own holder.
The NCS slab is for "Damaged" coins. Coins that are "conserved" by NCS that are not "Damaged" are put in NGC slabs. Charlie
An example might be a coin with PVC contamination. If the PVC has pitted the surface of the coin, it would be put in an NCS slab after the PVC was removed. If the PVC had not started to pit the surfaces, then it would be put in a NGC holder. Charlie
OH !!!! OK i see, ... So if i send my coins for certification with NGC but some of them are some damage or something like that, NGC will send the coin to NCS for a non grade certification. for me, that's correct, i mean it's a good deal if is it what i think is correct because if i send my coins to certification , this is not to receive them back with a non certification because they are damaged!!!!! so.... and about the price ...
I think NCS will only slab coins that have been sent to them for conservation. If you send coins to NGC that are damaged they will still get "body-bagged." Charlie
do you know a place where i can see some picture of british guinea and some place to buy some!!!! maybe ebay but i'm scare about counterfeit because in my research of NCS, i found british guineas and they looks great coins
Not exactly. If you send a problem coin directly to NGC, you'll get it back in a body bag. If you send it to NCS, you'll get it back in a slab. Whether that's a graded NGC slab or an ungraded NCS slab depends entirely on how successful the conservation is. For example (to repeat) if the problem was PVC, the slab will be NGC if there was no discernable pitting, or NCS if there was. Click here and scroll halfway down the page for a full explanation of the rules, including the $3 "transfer fee" associated with getting an NGC slab.
Not always - but it is an option. NCS will also authenticate and slab problem free coins if you like.
