i am deployed in africa right now, and bought a coin at one of the villages, on one side it has the german warbird and on the other it has a picture of adolf hitler and says his name around the head. the year on the coin is 1935 and on the backside it also says 5RM on the bottom. can anybody tell me if this coin was ever in circulation, i can't find it anywhere on the interent. edited thanks
1935 is a very significant year with respect to Hitler, but Germany did not honor him with a coin bearing his effigy then, or ever. You probably have a fantasy coin created long after 1935 by some group of his admirers. '35 was the year he first affirmatively violated the Treaty of Versailles, which ended World War I, by instituting conscription. It was the "kickoff" year for the activities leading up to the 1939 commencement of World War II.
