After reading BigsWick's thread on half dollar mintage numbers, I spent a couple of hours searching the mint site for mintage stats. I was able to come up with the last few years but nothing farther back. Has anyone had any luck finding such information on the U.S. Mint site? I find their site very hard to get around in. Anyone else? I know there are other places like "coinfacts" to look I just figured that the mint should have this info too.
knowtracks, I too perused the mint's site and didn't locate the production totals I had hoped to find. I actually downloaded their 2003 annual report, a 70 page PDF documant, over a dial-up connection. It contained some interesting information, but nothing I truly wanted. I've generally found their site to be OK, but not always- as in this case.
I have never been able to find lots of information on the mints website... ok there is lot of info - but not on history of mintage numbers. I think they delete years past for storage space. If your looking for anything more then a few years old, you might be better looking on coinfacts. I saw in one post that the mint had the numbers for sets sold say for commems.. i have never seen or been able to find those numbers on the site....
A subscription to Numismatic News would solve all those problems I can't say it enough - in order to learn one needs to read, read, read and read !
