I'm new to the forum. Are all coins from Skyline, Coast-to-Coast, etc. "junk" (cleaned, dipped, etc.), or is it possible to get some decent coins ? I'm not talking about modern coins, but the pre-1964 silver and pre-1933 gold pieces. Thanks.

Judging on what I've read, I'd only buy PCGS or NGC coins from them if the price was right... Nothing RAW...

Have you checked out The Morgan Mint? www.morganmint.com
Their prices are crazy. They want $400 for a common quarter ounce Gold Eagle. I can buy that coin for $180. They want $700 for a half ounce Gold Eagle. That's more than the spot price for a whole troy ounce!
    Beware of the greedbags.

Hello! Sit, back, relax, and have fun. I personally wouldn't buy from them, (IMO they are just another Littleton) but hey, if you want to buy from them, and buy and over inflated price, that's your choice. ;) Good luck. BTW, what other coins do you collect?

I have never bought from Coast-to-Coast or Skyline, but I am very hesitant to buy from many large dealers who advertise in magazines unless I have good references about their business practices.

About two years ago, I purchased a $2 1/2 Indian that was listed at Very Select Uncirculated from a large dealer. I was not expecting the world with my purchase, as I wouldn't expect a well-known dealer to sell a 63 gold piece at 60 or 61 money. However, considering that the dealer had two categories, Uncirculated and Very Select Uncirculated, I would expect the Very Select Uncirculated piece to at least be MS-61 quality. What I received was an AU-55 Indian that had been noticeably cleaned. Needless to say, I promptly returned the coin to the dealer, who happens to be an ANA life member and a PNG member.

Just my thoughts on the matter.
