I am looking to find peoples favorite place online to buy Nationals from. HA.com, eBay, teletrade, George Decker... What are you favorites, I would like to possibly find some fresh water. Thanks in advance, Johnny
While I have not purchased any nationals lately, Heritage seems to have the best selection and price for them.
thanks thank you to ALL that responded to this thread. I do not post here often, and it seems that every time I start a thread, it dies pretty quickly. I don't know if there is any particular reason for this, but I have to say, it seems like there is some sort of club here and if you are not part of it, you don't get responses. Or maybe I just don't post any topics that interest anyone else.
I did not see the original post, but saw it today when you added a comment. I have found the best sources to be shows. You can get a good selection on-line, but I think they are over priced. All the bank notes I have purchased have been in person where I can actually see the note up close and personal. If getting to shows is a problem, Heritage as mentioned above has a good selection, but there are others. I have found that making a small purchase initially to see if the item is as advertized is best before laying out money for bigger ticket items. Just my 2 cents. Gene
Sometimes it does seem as you say, but hang in there..someone or other will come along with an answer. And if not, I think a post like what you just made might just trigger someone! Sorry I don't know an answer for your original query. Lucy
National Help Gene, Lucy, Thank you too for your input, getting to shows is a little hard for me, but I am thankful for the response. I have been to shows before, but I am looking for a certain county of a popular state in National Collecting, and was hoping to have someone here respond with a website with notes listed at just over face value, and had every note I was looking for. Obviously, I am kidding, but any new waters, I am looking forward to seeing. Thanks again to those who respond, Johnny
Johnny, are you looking for small or large size Nationals ? Do you have any census information about the region you are looking for ? What do you have already, and where did you get them ?
Thanks Guys, I am collecting anything large or small from Orange County, NY. That is where I am from and still call home. They are a little pricey as far as note go, but that is because most of them are scarce to rare. I will post pics of what I have so far, maybe tomorrow, I would need to get them from the bank. I have acquired them from: eBay, Heritage, Teletrade, George Decker, Lyn Knight, Denly, Horwedel, as well as 2 or 3 private collectors that I have met locally. It is my goal to put together a complete set of small size from this county, although one bank has only one note known and it isn't going anywhere soon. However, I am interested in any and all others that are available. I would also consider obsolete's from the same area. I know that I probably have a descent search market, but it couldn't hurt to see if there are any more that I am not aware of. Thanks, and I will post pics of the ones I have soon. Johnny
Thanks Coleguy, I am thankful for the responses, I was just hoping to find some place that I have not been before.
Hello - I usually hang out at the PCGS Paper Money Forum but I spotted your thread about Orange County and thought I would sign up and respond. I've been a collector of NY Nationals for many years and have a Serial #1 large-size on Maybrook in my personal collection. I used to have a Serial #1 small-size on Florida but traded it to the major collector of NY small size. In case you're interested, there's a Serial #1 large-size on Newburgh in Heritage's Long Beach sale next week. If you have any questions, please let me know.
2nd Charter, Sounds like I should be over there at the PCGS Forums, you have and/or had what I am looking for. PM me please if you get the chance. I am mainly interested in the small size, however from the Chester National Bank, Charter #1349, I would buy whatever comes up! Those #1 issues must be nice. I do follow HA regularly, and that not has been offered by Jess Lipka on eBay, as well as Lyn Knight, I am not sure who the owner of it now is, it could still be him??? Do you collect all NY nationals, or just a specialized field? I would love to chat with you... John Reilly
Try ebay, Heritage, Stacks Bowers, or a local coin shop or show. I would love to talk Nationals with you, but I don't actively collect them but have researched them before.
