Well, I went to the NOISE coin show in Itasca, IL last weekend and it was a rather frustrating experience. I got to the show at 1:20 PM, and most of the dealers were leaving for Father's Day. My thought was to get to the show after seeing my father in the North suburbs, but I should have got there earlier. When I got there, it was a sparse crowd. Oh well

    Some thoughts:

    1. A coin show on Father's Day weekend is not a good idea. A coin show the week before a major show in the same metro region is a bad idea.

    2. Very few early commeorative coins are being sold now. I think dealers are holding on to their inventory to avoid a loss or a less than acceptable profit.

    3. From my brief discussions with the dealers, business has been slow throughout the year. Maybe I talked to the grumpy dealers.

    4. Get to a show early. The earlier, the better.

I was going to go and then I remembered it was fathers day haha. It's usually like that at those smallish shows around here. I try to get there around 10 or so when I go. The only good thing about some of the dealers leaving is that the ones that stay are usually a bit more flexible with their pricing.

we should make it a point to go next month. I'd love to meet you two.

Oh, and dime? I can tell you that it definitely behooves you to get to a show early. A lot of dealers bail out very early and you will likely miss them. This year, business here in the western burbs has been slow. AND the dealers are grumpy. LOL

Let me know if you guys want to meet there next month.
