Daer friends, could you help me to identify this coin? Made of very "fat" silver, 18 mm dia, weight ca 10 g; 4 mm thickness. Thanks!
Looks like an Indian Rupee from the Mughal Empire of 16th century India. I've got a few like/similar to it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mughal Take Care Ben
That may be a tanka from one of the Mughal rulers of the Delhi Sultanate, specifically Fakhr al-Din Muhammad bin Tughluq (725-752AH) The obverse reads something like Sultan al-Sa'id al shahid tughluq shah Attached is gold tanka from that sultan for comparison
acanthite - Do you read that script? I have a similar silver piece that I have no attribution information for.
Hopefully I've read this one correctly, but someone else in the forum should verify my ID. I've sent you a pm.
