Hello All, I recently bought a coin and I am having a hard time differentiating between BMC 205 and 216. Is there any substantial difference? I can not see any. This is the coin I am trying to identify: Any help in sorting out why there are two entries for what appears to be the same coin would be super helpful and appreciated. Thanks!
I would go with Mysia BMC 205. According to Acsearch, it is pretty much identical to your coin. Wheras (again, according to Acsearch) Mysia BMC 216 is quite different.
Difference cities in Mysia, Topcat . The OP is asking about coins of Pergamon, BMC numbers 205 and 216. The second coin you showed was struck in Kyzikos. As for the answer to the OP's question, I don't know .
BMC 205-210 are just different examples of the same type (yours belongs in this group). BMC 216-221 are examples with various monograms on either the obverse or reverse. Before I gave it away, I used to be the owner of your coin. Glad to meet the new owner
Haha! Well, hello, Zumbly, nice to meet you. Okay, I was not sure how to differentiate between the numbers, except it was obvious that there were no monograms or any other distinguishing marks. @Topcat7 The coin is 17.4mm and 3.26gr.
