I don't post often in the US Forum, but I finally reunited with my Type Set after being away from it for a few years. I moved overseas and left it stateside. The photos don't do some of them justice, and some are best photographedfrom afar. Someday, I'll find and buy a Dansco 7070 album. If you want better photos of a particular coin, let me know. Feel free to post your own type coins and/or sets!
I'd be interested to see which large cent is in that green holder in the first pic and also 2nd row, far right. I like large cents. Lol. Thanks.
Great Job, Brandon. What' s about the early pre 1800 coins? There are no holes in the "standard" Dansco to fill in. Maybe there's a additional page to buy? I would like to see the Trade Dollar with chopmarks. Would you show us better pics?
Nice "do-it-yourself Dansco". As you likely know, if you do buy a 7070 album, you won't need the Flowing Hair coins, and only the half cent and cent for the Draped Busts.
That is a solid looking bust half @Seattlite86. I've hit a bit of a wall on my 7070 with the older silver and copper. They are just too far out of my budget. Hopefully I can add at least one new piece for 2020.
The pre-1800 coins are where the prices really get high and finding the coins in any condition is a challenge these days unless you go to the high priced dealers. The most common early coins are the Liberty Cap large Cents followed by the early Dollars. The Early American Copper collectors have soaked up a lot of the large cents, and the dollars are in demand and command high prices. The half dimes, dimes, 1796 Quarter and the Draped Bust, Small Eagle half dollar range from expensive to mega bucks. I paid a mid 5 figure number for the half dollar, and it's only a Fine-15. That's the type that stops most collectors cold. I have thought about posting a guide to the early dollar types, but the word flow has not gone well. Perhaps I should do a "bare bones" review and let the questions flow in after that.
I'll have to get the large cent, but here's the 1804 half cent. I don't think I'll ever go earlier than 1800s, as I'm too invested in German States coinage. Maybe someday I'll hit the lottery and change that. I know you found them, but for the group: Yes, I'll not need as many when I get the 7070. That's probably a good thing. I love those capital plastics! You've got a beautiful set there, well done Thanks! Yes, I think I might be at the limits of my collection. I've considered selling these, but as most are raw, I've found and bought them individually myself, so it's hard to let go I think everyone can always benefit from your insight. I found another close up of one of the coins in the album; likely a cleaning gone wrong, but still a beautiful coin:
Thanks for the reminder (and birthday present!). I'm still adding a few coins that I have lying around, but here's a quick snapshot of what I've put in so far.
Here are some potential crack outs for holes: I also have an MS-70 West Point commemorative dollar, but I don't think I can bring myself to crack it out.
